5 Freedom Priorities in 2022

Our Projects

To successfully shape change, we continually work on the following projects.

Irene is one of 663 million people who lack access to clean water. The handpump in her village broke years ago, along with 30% of all the pumps in Africa. Now FARM STEW is providing a local source of hope for the water situation to quench their physical and spiritual thirst ($15 per person).
Tippy Taps
Simple technology like a Tippy Tap, that can provide flowing water, combined with soap or ash, can clean hands with limited waste. FARM STEW promotes Tippy Taps for all homes!
Washable Pads for Girls
Around the world many women and girls do not have access to sanitary napkins, clean private toilets, or hygienic ways to take care of their periods. We are bringing dignity to girls by training and equipping them with the tools they need.
Family Gardens
To enable rural families to be self-sustaining and provide an opportunity for business, we supply the initial seeds and tools needed to begin a garden. They do the rest with the help of our FARM STEW trainers!
Our FARM STEW trainers emphasize the principles of each of our eight ingredients in the classes we teach. Hands-on practical activities make the lessons come alive and help participants thrive!

“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” - Galatians 5:13-14

Our FARM STEW Board of Directors has established the 5 Freedom Priorities that guide our efforts:

Priority 1: Freedom from Dependency

Freedom from dependency is about more than teaching a man to fish; it empowers families to thrive! Our FARM STEW trainers teach classes that emphasize Farming, Attitude, Rest, Meals, Temperance, and Enterprise practices and mindsets that promote sustainable self-sufficiency.

  • Sustainable gardens and farms
  • Self-sustaining businesses
  • Thriving families

Priority 2: Freedom from Shame

Freedom from Shame promotes Sanitation, providing menstrual hygiene education and supplies, helping girls stay in school, and now includes support for latrines, providing privacy and safety for families.

  • Help girls stay in school
  • Promote latrine privacy
  • Encourage safety for families

Priority 3: Freedom from Drudgery & Disease

Freedom from Drudgery & Disease promotes Water, Sanitation, and Meals by providing accessible clean water sources for communities, either by drilling or repairing wells, and by promoting efficient, low-smoke and solar cookstoves that make preparing food more safe, convenient,  and affordable than the typical open fire used by millions.

  • Clean Drinking Water and Efficient Cookstoves
  • Less Water-Related and Respiratory Illness
  • More Time for Important Matters

Priority 4: Freedom to Share

Freedom to Share promotes the training of trainers (TOT) with the FARM STEW Recipe Curriculum that contains detailed guidance for the recipe for abundant life. The lessons are designed so our partners (organizations, universities, and individuals) can effectively share the recipe in their context and language.

  • Equipped FARM STEW trainers
  • Spread the Recipe in different languages
  • Share resources electronically or in print

Priority 5: Freedom to Grow

Freedom to Grow by operating health food manufacturing or agricultural related Enterprises in the countries where we work. These businesses, ie FARM STEW Foods, will help fund the work of FARM STEW while also providing markets for local small farmers and nutritious food products in areas with significant levels of malnutrition.

  • Tackle malnutrition with locally grown food businesses
  • Re-invest in the community/buy from local farmers
  • Expand health food product marketing and sales

FARM STEW’s 2020 Need TOTAL = $675,000
